Water Protector Campaigns

At Native Daily Network we view the planet as a relative and it is a natural duty of ours to protect her

Protecting the Water

At Native Daily Network we focus on protecting the planet by centering and elevating the voices of the directly affected communities, and by planning, organizing, and supporting grassroots environmental campaigns.

2024 Campaigns

Climate Catastrophe Ground Zero (CCG0), launching in 2024, embodies our commitment to unity and collective action in addressing the climate crisis, with Indigenous values and leadership at its heart.

Inspired by the Lakota principle of Mitakuye Oyasin—’We are all related,’ CCG0 specifically targets ‘Ground Zero’ areas chosen by communities for their significant environmental challenges and potential for meaningful change. By extending support to communities at the forefront of these challenges, CCG0 seeks to facilitate the formation of resilient and extensive local coalitions, demonstrating our collective strength and shared responsibility in the face of environmental adversity.

The “A Billion Relatives” campaign, launching in 2024, embodies a vision for environmental restoration and unity, beginning with the simple, powerful act of planting trees. Rooted in the wisdom of indigenous stewardship and embracing the collective power of global communities, this initiative aims to foster a profound connection between humanity and Earth.

Other Campaigns

Witness the journey of the Water Warriors, a vibrant grassroots resistance group deeply rooted in the Puyallup Tribe’s timeless bond with their land and waters. They formed to oppose the construction of a 14-story Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facility, a threat looming over their ancestral waters and Tacoma’s tideflats.

Through the lens of these warriors, we glimpse a community united by their profound connection to the waters that have sustained and defined them since time immemorial.  This campaign page includes a link to watch the complete ‘Ancestral Waters’ documentary.

Our NoDAPL campaign page celebrates a crucial moment in the fight for Indigenous sovereignty and environmental protection, centered on the resistance against the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). Launched months before the Standing Rock movement captured the world’s attention in 2016, our organization’s journey into advocacy and our mission was deeply influenced by this collective stand, not least because of unique perspectives and leadership of our board members, who have direct ties to Standing Rock including two who are enrolled in the tribe.

Our Climate Emergency program represents an ongoing endeavour to put pressure on decision makers in support of sensible policy around the environment.

Our Climate Emergency efforts include our push for a climate emergency declaration in Washington state, highlighting our commitment to addressing climate change across multiple fronts.
